Stone and Wood

The exhibition path begins with the Stone and Wood section, dedicated to the illustrations, techniques, and materials used in the book Jacopo il Giullare (Jacopo the Jester). Štĕpán Zavřel, who studies and selects the most suitable technique for each story, multiplies its enchantment with his masterful illustrations: watercolor woodcuts that glow with an ancient light, where Romanesque architecture stands out majestically and the small figures show sharp features reminiscent of the angular lines of early 20th-century Expressionism.
